Sandals Resorts Launches Sandals Corporate University

Sandals Resorts International celebrated its long standing commitment to education and training with the launch of its very own Sandals Corporate University—the company’s adult education program for Caribbean nationals employed by Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts.

In an effort to continuously elevate the skill level of its more than 10,000 employees across the Caribbean, Chairman and Founder, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, along with CEO, Adam Stewart, launched Sandals Corporate University on March 21, 2012 at Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. First of its kind in the Caribbean, SCU marks an exciting milestone history representing Sandals’ dedication to growth, not only as a hotelier, but as an employer. Fueling these defining values, Sandals Resorts has expanded its staff opportunities to include not only exceptional field experience, but now formal academic advancement and avenues for further career development.

Through partnerships with internationally-recognized universities, such as Canada-based Ryerson University, the SCU’s programs place staff members on a path that can ultimately lead to a masters and/or doctoral degrees.  Similar partnerships with the Western Hospitality Institute in Jamaica offer SCU participants the chance to obtain associate and bachelor’s degrees.  The Jamaica Foundation for Life Long Learning will also provide classes in Mathematics and English for those in pursuit of high school equivalency.
