Sandals Foundation Raises £3,475 at Jamaica Travel Market Event

On 26th September 2019, guests at the Jamaica Travel Market Gala Awards Dinner raised an amazing £3,475 for the Sandals Foundation, Sandals Resorts International’s philanthropic arm.    

 

The Sandals Foundation was the charity partner for the Jamaica Tourist Board’s glittering event which was held at Sopwell House in St Albans and attended by hundreds of travel industry representatives and Jamaica Tourist Board partners. In attendance was His Excellency, High Commissioner of Jamaica, Seth George Ramocan, The Honourable Minister of Tourism for Jamaica, Edmund Bartlett and Director of Tourism for Jamaica, Donovan White. Heidi Clarke, Executive Director of the Sandals Foundation, and Karen Zacca, Project Manager of the Sandals Foundation, both travelled from Jamaica to attend the event.

 

Guests were asked to make a donation to the Sandals Foundation, to be in with the chance to with a seven-night Luxury Included (all-inclusive) stay at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort, Jamaica, with return flights provided by British Airways. Thanks to generous donations, the Sandals Foundation raised a grand total of £2,475 throughout the evening with a further £1,000 generously donated by the Jamaican Tourist Board.

 

With the money raised, the Sandals Foundation will provide a sustainable water catchment system for the Infant Department at the Glendevon Primary & Junior High School, located in the community of Glendevon, less than 10 minutes away from Montego Bay. This community has a low socio-economic status and even though it is near to an urban centre, there is high unemployment and many single-parent households.
